Wuthering Heights [Limassol]
December 12 @ 20:30 - 22:00

The Anemona Theatre opens the new theatrical year with an ambitious production, the theatrical adaptation of the famous book of world literature “Windy Heights”.
This literary gem with its incandescent situations and iconic characters, the only novel that Emile Brodet published in her short life (1818-1848) was the masterpiece that was published in the expiration of Gothic fiction (1847).
Expressing an unprecedented contempt for all notions of social propriety and Victorian morality, Windy Heights caused consternation and discomfort at the time of its release and soon established itself as a classic masterpiece that is one of the most widely read books of all time.
The theatrical adaptation is by Irene Maradei and the bold project of transferring it to the stage is directed by Andreas Telemakhou through a large production of the Anemona Theatre.
Windy Heights is the stormy, passionate story of a maddened and doomed love affair between Catherine Earnshaw – the unruly daughter of a wealthy landowner – and Heathcliff – a “stray” child picked up from the streets and raised as his own by Catherine’s father , Mr. Earnshaw. After the death of Mr. Earnshaw, his son Hindley – who from the beginning is jealous and envious of the newly arrived boy – having now become his boss, flatters and humiliates Heathcliff who for his only consolation has his relationship with Catherine.
Everything changes when Catherine meets a rich, handsome and cultured young man, Edgar Lyndon, and is dazzled by the social acclaim he offers her. Heathcliff leaves the house in shame and Catherine marries Edgar.
But Heathcliff will return three years later as a rich and sophisticated gentleman, carrying with him an abysmal hatred and a single thought: revenge.
